Did you know that there are special rules and regulations set in place for every beauty place of business? The Department Of Regulatory Agencies set these guidelines to keep the client and stylist safe. There are two different main groups of bacteria. The first, non-pathogenic bacteria is the good bacteria, the type of bacteria your body needs to protect you. Then, theres pathogenic. Pathogenic bacteria ranges from the common cold to horrible sicknesses and disease. Just some examples of pathogenic bacteria include:

  • Streptococcus (strep throat)

  • Staphylococcus (staph infection)

  • Escherichia (e. coli)

And because salons reuse non-pourus materials after being cleaned and immeresed in disinfectant, it is important for them to know how to do this properly and safely. The proper procedure for disinfecting tools is (Set by Dora)Station Board regulations.

  1. Remove debri (hair)

  2. Wash in warm water and soap

  3. Scrub with a scrubby brush

  4. Let sit to dry

  5. Once dry, immerse completely in disinfectant barbecide.

It is important to know if the salon you're choosing knows how to keep you safe when getting your hair done.
